Pool Plaster Colors & Textures

Choose the Look and Feel of Your Pool

Your plaster finish sets the color of the water and the feel of the pool underfoot. Lighter finishes tend to give bright, light blue water, while darker finishes create deeper blue, teal, or gray tones.

Texture ranges from smooth traditional plaster and quartz to the natural, pebbled feel of exposed aggregate. Polished aggregate finishes fall in between.

Visit our store to talk through colors and textures, and ask us about finish samples so you can compare options alongside tile and coping.

Choosing Color & Texture

How Plaster Color Affects Water Color

Water color depends on the finish, the depth of the pool, the sky, and the surroundings. White and light finishes usually produce lighter blue water, while gray, blue, and black finishes produce deeper tones. A small dry sample can look quite different from a filled pool, so it helps to see finished pools as well.

Smooth vs. Textured Finishes

Traditional plaster and most quartz finishes feel smooth. Pebble and exposed aggregate finishes have more texture, while polished aggregates are ground smoother but still show the stone. Think about who uses the pool most, and ask us how each finish feels underfoot.

Coordinate with Tile and Coping

Your finish should work with your waterline tile, coping, and deck. Because our store includes a tile showroom, you can plan the interior finish and the tile together instead of choosing them separately.

Plaster Color & Texture FAQs

Common questions about choosing a plaster color and texture. Have a question that is not listed? Call us or visit the store.

Not exactly. Water depth, sunlight, shade, and the surroundings all change how a finish looks once the pool is filled. We can help you think through how a color is likely to look in your pool.

Colored finishes can change over time depending on water chemistry, sun exposure, and maintenance. Ask us how the finishes you are considering tend to hold their color, and what care helps.

Ask us about finish samples when you call or visit the store. We can help you compare plaster finishes alongside tile and coping so everything works together.
