Pool Resurfacing

Bring a Worn Pool Back to Life

Pool resurfacing replaces the worn interior finish of a pool with a new surface. It is one of the most common remodeling projects, and it can change both how the pool feels and how the water looks.

Islander Pool & Spa has handled pool remodeling with new plaster and tile throughout Southern California since 1999. Resurfacing can be done on its own or combined with new tile, coping, and other upgrades.

Start with a visit to our store to compare finishes, then let us plan the work.

Resurfacing Your Pool

Resurfacing vs. Replastering

The two terms are often used interchangeably. Resurfacing means applying a new interior finish, whether that is traditional plaster, quartz, pebble, or another aggregate finish. Replastering usually refers to the same process using a plaster-based finish.

When to Resurface

Rough or stained surfaces, cracks, chalky water, and bare or peeling spots are common signs a pool needs a new surface. A new finish can also update the color and look of an older pool, even before it wears out.

Picking the Right Surface

Choose from pre-blended plaster, Diamond Brite, and polished marble finishes in a range of colors. Think about budget, water color, texture, and how long you want the surface to last. Our Pool Plaster page compares finish types.

Plan a Complete Remodel

Many owners pair resurfacing with new waterline tile and coping, since the pool is already drained. See our Remodeling Services page for the full range of remodeling services.

Pool Resurfacing FAQs

Common questions about resurfacing a pool. Have a question that is not listed? Call us or visit the store.

Yes. The pool is drained so the old surface can be prepared and the new finish applied. Because the pool is empty, it is also a good time to replace waterline tile or coping.

Think about your budget, the water color you want, how the surface should feel, and how long you want it to last. Visit the store and we will help you compare the options side by side.

Ask us. Attached spas are often resurfaced along with the pool so the finish matches. See our Spa Remodeling page or call us to talk about your project.
